Good Wine

Croatia has extraordinary wines! Unfortunately they are hard to find. So here is a list of good wine makers, for example:

  • Bibich or Sladić, Skradin
  • Dubokovic, Hvar
  • Tomac, Jastrebarko
  • Čara, Korcula
  • Mare or Mrgudić, Pelješac
  • Testament, Jadrtovac
  • Vinarija Mi Maja, Rogoznica

Some of those like Čara (Pošip), Testament (Dalmatian Dog) or Bibich you might find in the local supermarkets. Others you can by in one wine shop in Split or one in Trogir. For the rest you have to visit the wine makers or order those on good restaurants.

Vinarija Mi Maja is really close – our local winery in Rogoznica. Testament Winery in Jadrtovac is also close. Wherever you go, try to schedule a wine tasting! Visiting Bibich Winery or Ante Sladić you can combine with an excursion to Krka National Park. Great experiences!

There are plenty of autochthonous grape varieties – so they only grow in Croatia – like Plavac (the Dingać grape), Debit, Babić and many many more.

Did you know that Primitivo and Zinfandel are originally from Croatia? When you drive to Primošten take a look at one of the old vineyards for Babić on the left.
